UA argues on appeal its trademark rights trump artist Daniel Moore’s free speech rights
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta hears case after lower courts divide on uses of artist’s iconic images of Crimson Tide sporting events. University of Alabama, backed by 27 universities which filed court briefs in the case, argues licensing programs are necessary to protect trademarks and revenue.
